This is great for Vata ache and pain in your joints/muscles/body. Do this 2-3 days and notice how the warming sensation relaxes you. Good Luck!

Ayurveda Monday! Since it is summer and actually warm outside 🔆🙏🏻 lets look at how we can keep it cool enough to not burnout, as Pitta has a tendency to do with too much heat, spice and drive.

2 tablespoon coconut
150g Sharkara sugar
1 teaspoon cardamom
Melt the ghee on low heat. Add chickpea flour and stir for 10-15min. Add everything besides the sugar and stir for 2 more minutes. Take of the heat and add the sugar, mixing thoroughly. Let cool and then form your balls. Enjoy!

Ayurveda Friday - Ghee

Ayurveda Friday means another yummy recepie. Today we will learn to make ghee, clarified butter, used both in food but also as medicine in Ayurveda. This is good for all doshas and even vegans can use this. Melt unsalted butter over low heat in an uncovered pot with high sides. Make sure the pot is completely dry before adding the butter, and allow some room at the top for the butter to bubble up and foam.
Turn the heat as low as possible and cook the butter until it is clear and golden. The solids may brown, but watch that they don’t burn. Check the butter frequently. The finishing point to look for is when the liquid is clear and golden in color. If it starts to darken, remove from the heat.
Line a large sieve with 3 layers of clean cloth. Set it over a pot and pour the ghee through it while still hot. Carefully transfer the ghee to clean glass jars with lids

Ayurveda Monday - Coffe is the Tip of the day! 🌱
Ayurveda does not recommend coffe but there are whats to ”balance” the dry and bitter taste and effect of coffe. So if you love coffe this just mightbe for you ☕️
Prepare your light rost in milk (lantmjölk) or water. Add ghee (contra dryness), sharkara sugar (contra bitter taste), cinnamon and cardamom (contra coffein). It is still super yummy, hope you enjoy

Möt Sommaren med Ayurveda

Landa i sommaren

patrick-fore-362584-unsplash.jpg

Promenader utomhus, i vatten, i naturen

Mind Stuff

yoga236.JPG

"Suffering is not caused by forces outside of us but by a faulty and limited perception of life and who we are. Our base misperception gives rise to endless cravings for sense satisfaction. Since everything in the universe is constantly changing, nothing in Nature is capable of bringing lasting fulfilment. The unwavering peace we seek is realised by experiencing the unlimited and eternal Peace that is our True Identity. Self-Realisation is attained by mastering the mind." - Inside the Yoga Sutras

For many months now I have noticed  a shift and an increase of thoughts judging and comparing myself to just about anyone, especially in the Mysore room (where it all begins). At first it showed itself as a dullness, loss of inspiration if you will in my practice. As I took a closer look, I became more aware of my own thoughts. A feeling of sadness came over me when I could see my mind stuff up close. The judging, the comparing the endless chattering of me never quite reaching and being as good as "them".

Feeling a little bit lost in the mind chattering I decided to pick "Inside the Yoga Sutras" again to get some clarity. I do that, when I feel out of focus- I read.

"Ahamkara is the ego. The ego stakes out the borders of self-identity and then exerts efforts to maintain and strengthen it, while avoiding anything it regards as treating or unpleasant. It is at the level of the ego that suffering arises. It harbours expectations and cravings, becomes frightened, insecure, angry and envious. Yet it is the same ego that experience love, caring and compassion. The Yogi´s first task is to eliminate not the ego but the selfishness that pollutes it. When this is accomplished, negative traits disappear"

At some level, I am in full understanding that I am not my thoughts and so sharing those dark corners of my mind stuff doesn't bother me. Of course it makes me vulnerable but when was that a bad thing. My thoughts does not define me, they do not tell you who I am. Sure they tell a story of my struggles and perhaps a past I am working through.

I am hopeful that by sharing darkness some light is spread

Affirmations

I have heard that we have up to 65,000 thoughts a day. For many of us a big part of these thoughts are unconscious, and also negative. To be unaware of our thoughts makes them impossible to change. To hear these negative thoughts day in and day out, which we all carry around, makes us feel and act in a way that is not beneficial to us or our surroundings.

An affirmation is a positive statement about yourself or your surroundings.  To use affirmations and to work with them is a way to reprogram the way we think, feel and act. The best thing with an affirmation is that you need not believe them to be able to use them. Fake it until you make it.

  1. Sit down for a few minutes every day where you can be alone and get peace and quiet
  2. Write down everything and anything, whether you believe in it or not. Every sentence should start with I am. For example: I am beautiful, I am brave, I am grateful, I am love, I am confident, I am calm, I am humble, I am fearless, I am strong, I am capable, and so on..
  3. Say all the affirmations aloud or silently to yourself

Now you are ready to face the day!

You will notice how uplifted you can feel, happy and positive. Sometimes you feel nothing at all and sometimes you will be present only to find yourself being scattered the next day. Feel that it does not matter. Do it anyway and watch the change within.
